Alexia Bastea

Alexia Bastea, born in 2005, is a painter and draftsman working primarily with classical media. Her practice examines the body as a site of emotional and cultural transmission, focusing on transgenerational pain, inhibited emotion, and the tension between individual interiority and collective belonging.

Drawing on Surrealist and academic painting traditions, Bastea engages allegory and symbolic figuration as analytical tools rather than stylistic references. Historical modes of representation are combined with contemporary imagery to address current conditions of visibility, idealization, and digital mediation.

Bastea’s paintings are constructed through layered compositions in which figures and objects function relationally, producing meaning through repetition, proximity, and restraint rather than narrative resolution. Previously Bastea has exhibited in Romania, Mexico, and Finland.

Linda Haume

Linda Haume (b. 1994) is a Finnish visual artist whose main medium and biggest artistic passion is oil painting. Additionally, she keeps her artistry alive by exploring other mediums, for example drawing, photography, textile crafts, and poetry.

Haume is deeply fascinated by the world surrounding her and has a great interest in psychology, contradictions, and cultural aspects – the things she sees as the core of humanity. Her art is a deep dive into the human mind and experience, a tribute to their depth and complexity, which can be seen in her surrealistic approach and colourful style. Karoliina Koljonen

Karoliina Koljonen (b. 1994) is a Tampere-based multidisciplinary artist who specializes in comics and mixed-media illustrations. She creates her intuitive work with traditional mediums on paper and often bridges the gap between comics and other forms of visual art. Koljonen’s art frequently deals with themes such as emotions, mental health, and various everyday challenges and observations. Animals are a recurring subject in her pieces, which adds to their approachable nature.

Koljonen transforms the personal into the universal with her vulnerable pieces – she holds herself up as a mirror for the viewer, offering them a chance to feel and reflect upon their own lives while looking at hers.

Koljonen’s artistic career was kicked off by her struggles with addiction and mental health. She has been in recovery since February 2020, and drawing and writing her thoughts down on a daily basis in the form of comics have played a big role in her healing. Koljonen started sharing her expressive drawings on social media in 2021, and today she is best known for her mental health- and daily life-themed raccoon comics on Instagram, which frequently reach millions of accounts.

In recent years, Koljonen has taken part in group exhibitions in Finland, Germany, and Japan, and attended comics events such as Helsinki Zine Fest and Tampere Kuplii as an independent vendor. Alongside her artistic practice, she works as a graphic designer and has created websites for organizations such as Tampereen A-Kilta ry.

Utu Korhonen

Utu Korhonen (b. 2001) is a Seinäjoki-born, Tampere-based visual artist whose works explore mental health, emotions and memories, feminism and their own queer identity. Their main medium is painting, but they also use others such as drawing, photography and sewing.

Korhonen’s inspiration comes most often from their own struggles with mental health. Their art is open and vulnerable, showing and exploring the fragility of being human. From severe depression to an eating disorder, their works hold a mirror to the viewer, helping them understand their own thoughts and emotions. Beneath the heavy topics, Korhonen wants to talk openly about these issues and show that no one is alone in their struggles.

Alongside mental health, pop culture, literature and nostalgia work as sources of inspiration for Korhonen. Their works often reference songs, novels, films or memories that have made an impact on their life.

During 2025, they were part of two duo exhibitions located in Helsinki and Tampere and a group exhibition in Tampere. They also exhibited their art at the NuoriTaide25 event.

Sini Loponen

Sini Loponen (b. 2001) is a Finnish Filipina artist whose practice primarily focuses on the human figure and the emotional landscapes carried with it. Working across multiple disciplines, including drawing, painting, and photography, she approaches each project with a strong sensitivity to composition, portraiture, and narrative depth. Loponen’s artistic journey began with charcoal and graphite realism, where she learned the precision and intent that helped her with later projects.

Loponen is drawn to subtle human moments – expressions, gestures, and instances that suggest inner worlds rather than overt storytelling. Deeply in tune with emotional nuance, she seeks to create work that resonates gently, inviting viewers to engage without being led too directly. At the core of her work is a compassion for complexity. Loponen finds meaning in restraint, aiming to balance clarity with ambiguity so that emotional narratives remain open-ended. Through this approach, her work reflects both personal sensitivity and a broader sense of shared human experience. Each piece carries a thoughtful blend of technical skill and intuitive feeling, offering space for reflection, empathy, and quiet recognition.

Minttu Nurmi

Minttu Nurmi (b. 2000) is a Lohja-born, Tampere-based visual artist whose work explores the human experience through memory and personal narrative.

Using mediums such as acrylic, oils and gouache, Nurmi approaches painting as a form of storytelling. Her images invite viewers to linger with emotionally charged scenes – some drawn directly from lived experience, others shaped by imagined alternatives and possibilities.

Nurmi draws inspiration from her own experiences of living with a rare chronic illness, growing up in a religious community and navigating everyday life. Annika Tammi

Annika Tammi (b. 2000) is an Oulu-born, Tampere-based artist who works primarily with watercolour, acrylics and coloured pencils. Her practice draws from the natural world and the quiet poetry of everyday visual experiences, weaving in personal narratives to create authentic, emotionally resonant works that reflect a deep sense of self.

In addition to her painting and drawing practice, Tammi explores photography through themed, aesthetic and experimental styles informed by contemporary fashion and visual culture.

The works presented in this exhibition are deeply personal, reflecting Tammi’s own journey of transformation. Inspired by the visual aesthetics of opera – its dramatic colour palettes, layered imagery and immersive atmospheres – as well as the strong sense of belonging found within its world, the pieces explore themes of identity, rebirth and becoming. They trace a process of unravelling and renewal, capturing the feeling of being born again and moving forward while embracing change. Across all mediums, Tammi creates intimate, expressive works that balance theatrical influence with quiet self-reflection.

Henna Videnoja
